Waezi2 Halloween reading.

Well folks, Halloween is coming. That means that I will soon have an excuse to eat a ton of candy, watch my favorite movie; The Corps Bride, argue with my pals about however Nightmare Before Christmas is a good movie or not (I dont like it myself), and most importantly of all, dress like an idiot!
Until Halloween, I will recommend some comics that I consider Halloween-reading, so I wont review "lost comics" in that period. Except for if I have a "lost comic" that fits the description.
The first recommendation actually does.

Some says that Superman is one of the most uninteresting heroes because of his near unlimited powers. If that is the case, then the Spectre must be the most uninteresting hero of all time. I haven't read much Spectre, despite the fact that I am a big JSA fan. But here is one of the few I have read: Issue 5; A Rage In Hell.
A boy named Billy has been kidnapped and buried alive, and the kidnapper is dead, so Spectre has to find the soul of the kidnapper in hell, and fight FLIPPING Satan to save Billy.
I can only imagine that a character like Spectre must be hard to find an actual opponent to fight, since he is the deviant wrath of god, but this issue were WEARY good, and I will, when I get the chance, get some more Spectre comics. I highly recommend this story.
How come there aren't many Robin/Supergirl team-ups? It seams to me like an idea with a lot of potential. But hey, what do I know?
Anyway, Superman/Batman 62 is the story about the first team-up with Kara Zor-El and Tim Drake; Supergirl and Robin. Their mentors are busy, so Robin needs Supergirl's help in Arkham, where there has been a breakout(big surprise there). And Supergirl is up to one hell of a surprise. She thinks that she is entering a nuthouse, but she is entering hell on earth!!!
My favorite issue of the whole series. It captures the horrors of Arkham very well, as well as making a heck of a team out of Kara and Tim.
That's all for now, See you next week.

The quest for lost comics: A handful of issues 2

I'm sorry, I haven't made a 5-panels for the next week, and no Phantom retrospective this week either. Been busy. But I do have some new comics I have brought. And boy oh boy, do I have one lost and forgotten series; Night Thrasher issue 1.
What's that? You dont know who Night Thrasher is? Well, that's not so weird. He was the founder of one of my favorite teams, The New Warriors, a group of teen heroes of the 90s (but you probably know the team from Civil GOD DAMN War!).
This issue is, sadly, a tie-in to a event in the New Warriors series, so its not really a number 1, its a number 2. In more than one way:(
Its not bad, it just not as good as I had hoped. Before Night Thrasher got his own ongoing, he had a mini-series called Four Control, witch I consider a really good read, so I had my hopes high, and were therefore disappointed. THAT is not the same as saying that's it bad. Its a... Okay introduction. But I still think I will try and find the other issues. Who knows? It could get better.
My second favorite member of the New Warriors is the one who were more successful than the other Warriors; Nova. You may know him from the crossover comic Annihilation, the Nova series that were made after, and Marvel VS: Capcom 3. But we shall take a look at the first issue of the second Nova series from the 90s.

Now THIS is more like it! I could criticize the artwork, but hey, it were the 90s so the style were hip at the moment, and it could be MUCH worse. And it even work as a introduction to the young hero with back-story and all. I enjoyed it, and I am DEFIANTLY going to find the other issues as soon as possible:)

Oh, and did I mention that bout Nova and Night Thrasher issue 1 has thick shiny covers? They do! I'm kind of a sucker for that kind of stuff.

And finally, we have Defenders issue 1.
I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the Defenders. Except for that they are a rather odd team. Hulk, Doc Strange, Namor an Silver Surfer aren't really team players, and has nothing in common. So how do they make it work? In fact, THIS issue is about how much they dont work together. All I know is that Kurt Busiek is the writer, and everything he writes is great, end of story. I will eventually review this 12 issue series, since I brought all of the issues for a really good prize. But for now, I can tell you this; the first issue looks pretty promising:)

That's all for now. I'm Waezi2, thanks for wasting time with me:)

Trinity War in 5 panels.

Wonder Woman is a Xena stereotype?
A new Superboy Prime?
Heroes fighting etch other, instead of villains?
The black guy gets killed?
Endless many event-comics?
Geoff Johns has turned the DCU into a Marvel knockoff!!!

Good. Good. Everything is going as I have foreseen.

The quest for lost comics: A handful of issues.

Today, instead of a review of an entire series, we shall take a look at a handful of comics I brought recently. One of them is the first issue of Green Lantern Quarterly.

It was a short lived series with focus on the members of the corps. In the first issue, we get introduced to Jack T. Chance, the most 90s GL of them all. He is the only GL on the corps who are allowed to use lethal force, since he works at the most violent sector of them all; Garnth, better known as Hellhole. And sometimes, you have to send a bad man to take care of bad men.  And Jack is a “good” bad man. The story is very 90s like, and the artwork is repulsive. In a good way.

We also have some other Lanterns introduced, like Gnort, Arisia, and even Alan Scott, the golden age GL.

You will probably like it more if you are fan of the Green Lantern concept to begin with, but it is a fine little collection of stories, and I will see if I can find the other issues.

And I also have issue 30 of the series Secret Origins.

Secret Origins were a series made after Crisis On Infinite Earths, who were suppose to explain the origins of DC Comics heroes and villains. In this issue its about two very different, but also pretty weird heroes: Plastic Man and Elongated Man. The story about Elongated Man weren't really a origin, but a retrospective on the life of Ralph Dibny. Nice little story about a man who wants attention. Loved it!

And The story about Plast weren't half-bad either. If all the other issues of Secret Origins are just as good, then I will look after them as fast as possible.

And Finally, All Star 80-Page Giant.
Did I mention that a flipping(!) love the JSA? I do.
All Star 80-Page Giant were a one shot comic with a bunch of stories about the members of the weary first superhero team, The Justice Society of America.
The first story is written by the ever awesome Mark Waid(my favorite writer) and is about the Atom, a midget superhero, and his problems with his short temper. My favorite story must be the one about the golden age Wonder Woman(queen Hippolyta) who teams up with Phantom Lady and Liberty Bell to fight some Nazi spy's. But all the other stories are great to. The weakest one must be the fight between Hourman and the 90-Minute Man, but it is still enjoyably.

All Star 80-Page Giant is without a doubt the best of my recently brought comics. I highly recommend it.

See ya next week, were we will take a look at my mothers favorite superhero, The Phantom.

Yugioh Duelist! in 5 panels.

Remember kids, when the police starts to ask questions, dont tell them about the boring stuff like being left on a island without food for two days. Just tell them that you had a fun weekend with uncle Pegasus.
And THIS guy ain't even the oddest duelist on the island.
Dumb luck; the secret to my success!
... You sure I'm not the main character?

Buy my deck in the toy-stores kids, and you will be just like me.
... Honda? Remember when we used to be important? Me neither!

Green Lantern; Rebirth in 5 panels

Im DAAAAAARK!!!
That's right, nothing but a man, who is the worlds greatest detective, one of the worlds riches men, expert in mathematics, history, escapology, chemistry, biology...
You mean the one we never talked about, and kinda feels like a retcon?
My hands are stained with blood of hundreds of Green Lanterns... Well, nothing a little soap and water cant take care of!
And if the Corps dont work out as we planed, we can always work on those zombies we talked about.
... master of disguise, master of all known fighting styles, including karate, kickboxing, ju jutsu, tai chi, kendo, savate, kung fu...

Sorry

I have to cut down on the CI5P, because of school. I will try to have a new CI5P ready every week, but lets be honest; CI5P wont last forever. First of all, I have told you the best jokes I have, and I will eventually end up repeating myself. Not to mention that I only have so and so many comics on my bookshelf, and I don't have a job, so buying new comics is something I do once a month or something.
But I can almost for sure promise a new Quest For Lost Comics review every week, that's better than nothing.
Sorry.
